Linda Lee

Linda Lee was a student at the Midvale School for Girls where I am employed as a math-teacher. I first met her in Principle Danvers’ office on the first day of school. I remember it clearly because I had gone to his office to complain about the little monsters nailing my desk drawers shut and there she was speaking with the Principle. Later, she was assigned to my computing class where she was an excellent student.

Little is known about her past other than the fact that she is an orphan. Her only other family is Clark Kent, a reporter with the Daily Planet, living in Metropolis. However, it is not known why she doesn’t reside with him. I can only surmise that being a busy bachelor, Mr. Kent felt it best that his cousin get a good education in an environment that offers some structure and discipline.

She attended the school for only a short amount of time, however she left a very curious impression. So much so that I used my influence as a teacher to compel one of my more tech-savvy students to hack into the school computer so that I can read her file. She first piqued my interest when she solved a complicated equation to compute the population of China in the year 2040 without the assistance of a computer or any other device! At first, I thought that she had previously gone through my papers and stole the answers; however after eliminating that possibility I began to think that I had a prodigy on my hands.

I began watching Ms. Lee more closely and noticed that she always seemed to be around when strange things occurred, such as

  • In one instance she was struck in the shoulder with a ball during a game of Lacrosse which shattered to pieces upon contacting her.
  • She was present when some pipes exploded dousing two students with hot water.
  • She happened to be in the wrong place and the wrong time when a runaway bulldozer rampaged through downtown Midvale, scooping up a local gardener in its jaws at one point.
  • She was the first person to speak with the gardener after the bulldozer was stopped and was even seen kissing him.
  • Other than Mrs. Murphy, she was the only person on campus when a person or persons unknown destroyed part of a campus.

In fact, the last time anyone recalls seeing Ms. Lee was the night the campus was vandalized. Eyewitnesses reported seeing her walking North through town fiddling with a strange blinking bracelet which she held before herself. Given that the only thing North of Midvale is the fairgrounds inhabited by Selena and her cohort, I suspect she may have decided to explore the fairgrounds and ran afoul of that evil witch.

Even more curious, no one seems to be interested in exactly what happened to Ms. Lee. To my knowledge there were never any police reports filed, no word as to her moving to Metropolis, nothing. Even Lucy Lane, her best friend and roommate, has been strangely quiet on the subject of her whereabouts. Granted, after all that occurred with Selena taking over the town and enslaving everyone there were many things that the populace has silently agreed to never speak of preferring to forget it ever happened.

Still, I feel that we have not seen the last of Ms. Lee.
